Ausstellung Galería Marcia, Barcelona – Juni 2026
Where art begins
Wo

Kunst?

The reliefs of Andreas Paul are born from an ancient and radical gesture: to carve wood and deliver it to fire.
The exhibited triptych (Cover Me, House, Storm) tells a minimal and universal story: life as the alternation between storm and shelter, between abandonment and care.
Charred wood is not dead matter but memory: every crack, every black scale holds the passage of flame as a body holds a scar.
In House, the small house on the mountain emerges from the black as a point of resistance; in Sturm Wind, red breaks into the burnt matter like a wound still pulsing; in Cover Me, carved forms evoke a threshold, a shelter an embrace.
Paul works on the boundary between creation and destruction, between control and chance: fire is collaborator, not tool. It is in this margin, where plan yields to gesture and matter responds, that for the artist art begins.
